The US is currently waging an intense multi-year bombing campaign in Somalia (at least 46 airstrikes so far in 2019) with little-or-no independent verification of civilian casualties. Perhaps that has contributed to the "brokenness" of the country? Just a theory

Of course you can't blame every problem in Somalia on the US. That would be ridiculous. But it's even more ridiculous to ignore that the US is an active combatant in a war currently raging in Somalia, and just pretend that all its internal problems exist in a vacuum

In addition to regular airstrikes, there are currently 500-600 US troops in Somalia, plus an unknown number of contractors. Did you even know that? US officials say the current "training mission" (euphemism for combat) won't be complete till 2026. Sound familiar?

Here's an idea. US government officials should take responsibility for what their government is doing in foreign countries, rather than use the problems in those countries to score cheap partisan political points

Former Tanzanian president Julius Nyerere once wryly remarked that Washington exercised so much control over his country that it'd only be fair if his people could vote in US elections! Perhaps the people of Somalia, Yemen, etc, should be offered this. 😬

while I agree that the wars should stop... it has been going on since the 50's... the people were warned about the military industrial complex long ago... it doesn't matter who is in power.. in fact Trump is the least war mongering... #termlimits #Tulsi2020

This is where some of the bloated defense budget should go. It should be considered a national security interest.

Another idea. MSM should be reporting this instead of the “concentration camps” at the US Mexico border.
