Not trying to deny anyone's experience, but if there were no commercial imperative behind the production and mass promotion of SSRIs, dramatically less people would be taking them and the health outcomes would likely be similar (and possibly better)

These are the seminal articles to read on the subject, from Marcia Angell in the NY Review of Books. Really changed my perspective when I first read them years ago; I still re-read from time to time https://www.nybooks.com/articles/2011/06/23/epidemic-mental-illness-why/ …https://www.nybooks.com/articles/2011/07/14/illusions-of-psychiatry/ …

Marianne Williamson was correct questioning the insane pediatric vaccine schedule and vaccine mandates but she backed down when the mob descended. Somethings you can't say today. I would have re-registered as a democratic and voted for her if she would have stuck to her guns.

I'd recommend #LostConnections by @johannhari101, but stay away from that new age shit. It might have killed #dfdubs. He was on antidepressants his whole life till near the end when he killed himself. And he mentioned #ACIM (which MW promoted) in one of his last short stories.

Strange as it sounds, she's closer to being right on mental health than most. Pharma influence and the biomedical turn since the late '70s make her sound kooky today, but this, for example, wouldn't have been strange coming from Erich Fromm: https://twitter.com/marwilliamson/status/1136466981543120896 …

Seems much of the left now thinks the solution to distress is "mental health parity" — more money for more drugs. The old left understood that the only solution is systemic change.

Stopping the consumption of Twinkies and Ding Dongs would do more for mental health than a thousand hits of Paxil.
