The amazing thing about Ross Perot in 1992 is that it wasn't even technically a "third party" campaign. He didn't have a party. It was just him. And he got almost 20 million votes

Imagine how things would have changed if he never did. If he’d actually won. Would we have a proper 3 party system in the states right now?

Much better equal coverage laws, time given to each candidate, including him in the debates etc. were a big part of it and why things are so messed up now with corporate media keeping it a two party system and favoring the establishment candidates.

Yes, b/c he got on the debates- b/c he was polling well. Why? Those infomercials. Now the monopoly debate commission makes it nearly impossible for third parties to get on, which would be a game changer for democracy.

I can’t even imagine the mockingbird networks giving a third party any airtime, for any amount of money today.

Interesting to ponder how he would have done had he not quit the race part way through, before he came back in again.

I think much of it has to do with the fact that he was entertaining and something different. Me thinks another person recently had success with a similar approach.
