Perot was the most successful Independent presidential candidate in US history; in 1992 he garnered the highest share of the popular vote (18.9%) for any non-Dem or GOP candidate since Theodore Roosevelt in 1912. But oddly that's not mentioned in the Dallas Morning News obituary

Which may suggest that Perot and his family, who heavily influenced the obituary, are eager to downplay that aspect of his legacy for whatever reason. Despite their obvious parallels, as far as I know Perot never commented publicly on Trump from 2016-onward

Unpopular opinion: His eccentricity notwithstanding, Perot was the best of the three major presidential candidates in 1992.

Great man. He was genuine like (the real) Bernie in 1992. Go back, watch all 3 debates against Clinton & Bush on YouTube. Amazing authenticity, heart, honesty standing next to 2 monsters.

Many of his dire prediction about NAFTA, unfettered free trade, and the decline of the American working class were sadly prescient.

I voted for Ross Perot back in the day. We needed him then like we need Trump now. RIP Ross Perot.

Blame the system. He tried to help in the 'lesser of 2 evils' system we currently endure.
