Democratic operatives demanding that presidential candidates prematurely drop out are missing the big picture. A huge field suggests vibrancy and robustness in the party. It's the opposite of 2016, when the Dem field was small and the party was stultifiedhttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/04/us/politics/democratic-candidates-president-2020.html …

Are they asking different candidates to drop out or just one in particular?

"Suggests"is the operative word. "vibrancy and robustness" is a bit of a stretch when there are basically 17 different flavors of Eric Swallwell running.

I'm all for a wide range of candidates, but we absolutely need to change the logistics to actually accommodate such a field. RCV/IRV instead of FPTP would be a necessary step.

As it currently exists, the the election dynamics, from the multiple spoiler effects in play to weird delegate rules (only delegates for candidates with 15% with vague exceptions for votes in a district) could be a full time job for Nate Silver in place of his awful punditry.

There are too many dem candidates, however, there aren’t many differences in their policies. Except for few, most of the dem candidates are batshit crazy.

Yeah sure. Vibrant democracy and all that. I just wish some of them would have found another way to increase their future salaries when they become lobbyists. the debates are like a beauty contest with the 1 minute answers about ending world hunger...only everyone's old and ugly.

All the candidates running is to atomize the voting insuring that Bernie does not receive enough votes to be the nominee. As for vibrancy & robustness in the Democratic Party #getreal

I think it suggest (just like the GOP in 2016) lots of attention-seekers. There does come a point of negative returns with an increasing number of candidates. ~RT: "A huge field suggests vibrancy and robustness in the [Democrat] party."
