Justin Amash took a position (impeachment) that he knew would essentially force him out of the GOP and jeopardize his political future. I don't agree with the position, but it's impossible to deny that he did so out of principle, which is an extreme rarity in Congress or anywhere

Yeah, he's such a "principled liberty lover" that he gave credence to the overreach of an unaccountable surveillance state. He's a fraud, a craven, sneering incompetent so emblematic of our political class. He was rightly crashing. This was just a preening parting shot.

It's also impossible to absolutely affirm Amash's actions as devoid of an element of attention seeking opportunism that is legion among elected officials. Any politician attempting to "play" an angle on 45 impeachment in the current environment merits some skepticism.

some of us thought Amash had big principles concerning the 4th amendment, but it seems his principles are rooted not in the Constitution, but in the glory of Justin Amash.

“Impossible”? How about this: He wanted to switch parties but do it in such a way that he’d have a massive media spotlight. Otherwise who would care? Tulsi has been outside the prescribed partisan cages FOR REAL for her whole career.pic.twitter.com/ItpU6MNnO1

Don’t agree here at all. He did it as a scorched-earth attention tactic to try & save his political future. Assuming media support. Like Trump or not, every reasonable thinker should be very concerned about the spying & coordination between estab. Govt & big media messaging.

Why is it impossible to deny that he did it out of principle? Why could he have not calculated that he will earn more as contributor to cable news, book deal or think tank position than he can monetize out of Congress? Not saying it’s so but it’s certainly not implausible.
