I was inundated yesterday with activists and journalists proclaiming that they now demand conditions-free release of all detained migrants and total border abolitionism. If that's your position, OK, but it's going to require more than emotionalistic slogans to defend it in public

We already have a system for this type of situation called TPS (temporary protected status) Trump has been trying to screw them over. If you want to get into these discussions people will take it better if you do your homework on the programs

Flood gates will open wider. Already looking at a million and a half detained crossing illegally this year. Make it easier and all of Central America will empty out. It’s not like LA, SF and other large cities aren’t teeming with homeless now.

No more defensive amnesty. Go through the front door or be deported. That would help a lot in slowing the tide of caravans heading here. 93% of those detained for def amnesty will be denied anyway.
