Almost everywhere else in the world asylum seekers are able to live in the country while their applications are processed. It’s UN human rights law. Just build shelters and give them an allowance at a fraction of the price of maintaining detention centres.

The govt could give them all $7000 a month and still come in at 1/3 the cost of detention.

Release them all & explain that we have legal & moral obligations to asylum seekers, having helped create the conditions they’ve fled. Also explain to voters that immigrants are not the cause of US problems. Both parties’ policies have legitimized xenophobia, time to end that.

Release them all? Cool. There are 1.6 billion people waiting to come.

What do you actually get out of these Tucker appearances that's worth this?

His only shot to be part of the vapid pundit class he desperately pines for validation from in the absence of any reporting ability, sources, ability to break news, or writing talent.

Yeah release them

I think "we can't release them" is one of those totally uninterrogated assumptions. We can't do that? Why? It's the moral problem the trolley problem presents; inaction (leave them in concentration camps) still carries moral weight.

Why is it $750 a day p/person for these conditions? (If you figure out the answer to that question, perhaps you'll find a proper solution.)
