This nation could do with a little more patriotism. And our military doesn’t have an abysmal track record in foreign conflicts. Our politicians do. We won every fight we were in. And we dug wells, built schools, educated little girls, fed the hungry. https://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1146421410593738752 …

I'm in favor of Americana, civic pride, and even honoring military service where appropriate but none of that has anything to do with decadent displays of military power that achieve nothing other than to titillate those with a very shallow conception of "patriotism"

Patriotism is being an educated citizen that criticizes the government when appropriate. Patriotism is not recitation of lyrics or pledges, or clapping at a parade of death machines.

War & Bombs are in US national anthem Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

The shallow conception is precisely what brought @POTUS to the Oval Office. It was a shallow conception shared by both political parties. Strong militaries protect sovereignty. Something neither party gave a shit about for 25 years. Kudos to @POTUS and his true patriots.

Don't be a party pooper. If the parade is too decadent for you, check out Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland, the Tank Museum. They've got Panzers (many) Panthers, Jagtiger, T34, T34/85, T72, Sherman, M1A1. https://www.google.com/search?biw=1159&bih=632&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=rNwcXcCZKYef_QbqmYagAg&q=aberdeen+proving+ground+tanks&oq=aberdeen+proving+ground+&gs_l=img.1.2.0l10.1768.1768..3896...0.0..0.56.56.1......0....1..gws-wiz-img.6noks6D7avg …

I cannot think of how the planned military participation in tomorrow's 4th of July parade is in anyway not 'appropriate.' But your apparent attitude toward my offspring's front-line infantry service with his "toys" is noted. ~RT: "honoring military service where appropriate"

Imo. Every culture has a warrior class. July 4th is great. The country is more than the military, but I'm ok with the parade. It's a spectacle and propaganda, but some of that is needed and ok. We just need responsible politicians. Wish I could see it
