These Navy SEALs evidently have a strong fascination with taking photos of themselves posing alongside mutilated corpses. Definitely the right way to win hearts and minds https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/02/us/navy-seal-trial-verdict.html …pic.twitter.com/FdxUR1BaRv

There's no defense for this outright sadism, even in the context of a warzone. Evidently other SEALs agreed, seeing as they reported their superior for his sadistic conduct -- and Navy brass also agreed, which is why they court-martialed him. Prosecutors just screwed up the case

But yeah I'm sure the Naval Criminal Investigative Service are a bunch of politically correct snowflakes and SJWs 🙄🙄🙄

Ritual desensitization. Allows them to do their jobs without completely losing their minds. Also seen (to lesser extent) in domestic first responders, ER personnel, etc. I’m not saying it’s right but they live in a different dimension.

Special forces aren’t trying to win hearts and minds they’re trying to stop hearts and blow the minds out of terrorists heads. Yeah it sounds barbaric to the average Joe but it’s a job that needs to be done. And I thank them.

This is what happens when you send people to war for almost two decades. It damages the souls of those that have to kill for years on end. Don’t blame the seals. You need to blame the politicians that have continually sent them to fight.

It's a wonder that he didn't have a necklace of ears. It should be obvious that it is natural for warriors to take trophies; it's almost universal throughout history.

Great investigative journalism and a brutal read about the psychopathy of “elite” military killers. Same thing happened in Canada and Australia.

That doesn’t bother me. It’s the thing after it that’s horrible and which war inevitably brings out. But let’s all laugh at Gabbard

War isn’t so much about winning hearts and minds as it is about putting bullets through them. There’s a reason you’re a comfortable journo, and a reason SEALs are SEALs, and Marines are Marines. You have the luxury to think while men like us act. So that you can think.
