Trump’s direct, personal diplomacy with Kim gets widely mocked by the US media and opposition party, but you can’t deny the significance of this imagehttps://twitter.com/jonlemire/status/1145222416634769408 …

Can Tulsi get at least a cabinet position regardless of who’s president in 2020? Please and thank you.
I’ll take the symbol.
It's still good bc it sets a standard for future presidents: They have to meet with Chairman Kim.
If the personnel are blocking him achieving a policy aim, why not just get rid of the personnel?
Good question but The Don hasn’t ceased to surprise us almost daily and so I wouldn’t put it past him. Best POTUS ever!
Yes, great achievement but what are we (the West) getting in return for the photo op? And who is doing the follow through consistent with a denuclearization strategy?
We have their signature for a "complete denucleralization of the Korean peninsula." That's simple and clear. They cannot play around that one.
Is it possible Bolton is a symbol of what North Korea and Iran don't want to deal with? Good cop bad cop.
It looks like the answer is still no. Which is why he has to engage in unconventional, asymmetrical diplomacy. Had he tried to set this up via normal channels, it would never have happened. He used twitter to circumnavigate the roadblocks. Again, a masterstroke.
IMO it’s orchestrated Good Cop Bad Cop. Seems to be working so far. My fingers are crossed and I know, despite wise and understandable skepticism, you hope for the best also!
I remember that time you thought Trump might bring peace to that region and get NK to denuke.
I think it has more to do with China, personally. But, I do agree on them. Better than the rhetoric of wiping Seoul off the map, tho. Plus, Trump is actually doing things the way South Korea wants. It's great we have a president trying new things
Doesn't matter if they have the right people. Trump thinks he can do this through "friendship" with Kim. Take off the rose-colored glasses and this is what you'll see...pic.twitter.com/mRGt0Lr9qV
We have their signature for a "complete denucleralization of the Korean peninsula." The world can see it. The simplicity makes it even better.
The question as always is what is our goal given that our stated goal of denuclearization is not going to happen absent credibility that we frittered away a long time ago.
Bolton has been "humbled" drastically after the second meeting. Bolton asked for everything he wanted: any weapon, including bio and non nuclear missiles... When that was rejected, NK turned away to see Putin. In interview Bolton said: ok ok we focus on denucleralization...
I believe the second meeting was necessary to confront NK on what they did to Otto Wambrier. We had to do it. Now they know this is unacceptable going forward.
Trump has said that he likes to have 2 or more perspectives (that Both Sides-ist) in the room when determining a course of action. Hawks & doves. He’s also said that Bolton is a hawk (duh, Donald) so I don’t think he’s ignorant to our fears. It certainly adds to Unpredictability.
He doesn't even have the skillsets himself. He's a terrible negotiator who hardly knows anything about the Govt he runs, unless he's using it to ruin immigrants lives
