Candidates who explicitly committed to removing all US troops from Afghanistan by the end of their first term: Tulsi, Warren, Beto, Klobuchar, Castro, Bennet (Bernie said he "suspects" that troops would be removed but was not definitive)https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/us/politics/afghanistan-democratic-candidates.html …

interesting that tulsi is pushed to expand on "There will not be American troops in Afghanistan at the end of my first term." but warren's response is left at "No."

It’s just unfortunate knowing that most these candidates will not bring home troops and end frivolous wars overseas. Even with someone like Tulsi who wants to bring them home and end foreign intervention and wars, the established military complex would prevent anything like that.

aaaand it will still not happen. "Mr/Mrs president, here is our assessment why we cannot remove troops..." Then they play the game of removing a few and the next presidential candidate will promise to remove troops. Rinse and repeat

I think we've learned in the past couple of years how disconnected from democracy the military is. Tulsi can get in and it still won't change.

I only believe Tulsi. The rest may remove them only to place them somewhere else.

Like everyone else who has ever sought the Presidency, it is easy to say from outside the Oval Office. Once you win, reality walks in the door beside you and you realize there are some things you can do and some you cannot, and some you are not allowed to do.

Bernie is being honest; I doubt any presidente can overcome the inertia that is Afganistan in one fell swoop.
