Did you know? Non-Americans are legally permitted to contribute "things of value" to US political campaigns, so long as those things are contributed on a volunteer basis. Hence "volunteering" information would not necessarily be a crime, despite widespread screeching otherwisepic.twitter.com/ontEwak2RU

A non-American may volunteer to canvass or phonebank for a presidential campaign. Even though those canvassing/phonebanking hours are theoretically "things of value," they are legally permitted. But now I guess we're going to have a hysterical push for criminalization

          Michael Tracey Retweeted Axios

Blackburn was justified in blocking this knee-jerk bill on the ground that it is "overbroad." We don't have good definitions of what constitutes "foreign assistance" or even an "offer." Could easily end up penalizing otherwise legal, innocuous activityhttps://twitter.com/axios/status/1139257392896643074 …

Of course Dems want illegals and non-citizens to vote, but this is unconscionable. Some how

Anyone want to bet if something goes through there's an exception put in for illegal immigrants who happen to be working on campaigns? My guess is it will be tailored to only include connections to an established foreign government.

Didn't Obama "volunteer" his help & advice in favor of Macron for President of France? Do people really think if the Obama Administration had dirt on a "far-right" French candidate, they wouldn't offer to share it?

Yes, it would be hysterical to clarify in statute the difference between a foreign national volunteering at a phone bank and a foreign intelligence service sharing stolen information from, say, a former Secretary of State. Hysterical!

Kinda funny to see those freaking out about "foreign influence" of elections suddenly turn a blind eye towards anything that would hurt the ability of illegal aliens to vote in our elections, such as the nonsense controversy about the census questions.
