It's not illegal, nor should it be, to receive information about a political opponent from someone who happens to be a foreigner. Think about the First Amendment implications of that. I know free speech is increasingly regarded as an obsolete concept, but come on

You're really telling me that if a Canadian or Norwegian emails a Kamala Harris staffer something negative about Trump, they're going to immediately run to the FBI and report this as "interference"? What a joke

Mueller specifically wrote that the First Amendment would "pose constraints" on any prosecution of Don Jr. or Kushner for merely receiving info from a person who happened to be a foreigner. Funny how Mueller of all people is more cognizant of these issues than most in the media

"Pose constraints on any prosecution" is an interesting way to say "perfectly legal."

also, btw, there’s nothing illegal about a Russian, even one in the employ of the Russian government, tweeting Black Lives Matter memes and sharing articles on Facebook.

Right, but if that information was clearly received illegally you have to report it. Accepting a Lamborghini is perfectly fine unless you're aware they may have robbed a bank to get the money.
