It's not illegal, nor should it be, to receive information about a political opponent from someone who happens to be a foreigner. Think about the First Amendment implications of that. I know free speech is increasingly regarded as an obsolete concept, but come on

You're really telling me that if a Canadian or Norwegian emails a Kamala Harris staffer something negative about Trump, they're going to immediately run to the FBI and report this as "interference"? What a joke

Mueller specifically wrote that the First Amendment would "pose constraints" on any prosecution of Don Jr. or Kushner for merely receiving info from a person who happened to be a foreigner. Funny how Mueller of all people is more cognizant of these issues than most in the media

The "hostile foreign power" construct, invented by Russiagaters, is key to making this talking point sound plausible. After all, Clinton's campaign proxies not only received, but actively solicited, derogatory information on candidate Trump from foreign sources in 2016.

Yes. And the staffer shouldn't set up a meeting at Trump Tower to meet with them, saying 'if it's what you say, I love it'.

If the governments of Canada and Norway launder information through a third party then yes, they should inform the FBI.

In this example, what steps would the Harris campaign take to confirm the source and the reliably of the information? And shouldn’t they question why this hypocritical Norwegian is providing useful dirt?

To be fair, the FBI will let those Democrats leverage their "info" into a way to smear their opponents. Seems like that is the problem
