You're really telling me that if a Canadian or Norwegian emails a Kamala Harris staffer something negative about Trump, they're going to immediately run to the FBI and report this as "interference"? What a joke

Mueller specifically wrote that the First Amendment would "pose constraints" on any prosecution of Don Jr. or Kushner for merely receiving info from a person who happened to be a foreigner. Funny how Mueller of all people is more cognizant of these issues than most in the media

By that logic, apparently all my Canadian relatives trying to get me not to vote for Trump were nefarious foreign actors trying to illegally meddle in our election!
-
Sorry about that.

Well, in that case, I'm looking forward to you not saying a goddamn thing when the military or intelligence units in some European country steals and releases everything they have on Trump in an effort to tank his chances in the 2020 election. Surely, that's okay, right?
-
Absolutely. I would praise it. I would encourage it. I would write them a check.

We aren’t talking about someone who happens to be from another country. We are talking about foreign governments and their intelligence services. Do you see the difference?

Was that the question? I thought the question was what if a foreign government contacted him. Like during the 2016 Trump Tower meeting. Then like when Manafort provided internal polling data to Kilimnik, an agent of Russia.
-
I see Internal polling data as useless information. Maybe I'm wrong.

These "journalists" obtain information from foreign sources all the time that have the potential to influence how people vote, but they'll pretend to be outraged over this

You have the grain of a point here, but surely you can see the problem this would create - an emolluments sort of situation, for one thing, foreign interference for another. 1st amendment conflicts with other real issues here.

Depends how broadly you interpret "or other thing of value" under the election act.

If it were Hilliary would be guilty. But we all know she would not be prosecuted for having done it.
