The elite media continues its quest to pressure tech companies into more stringently regulating speech, in the name of combating “extremism” and “hate” -- whatever that meanshttps://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/06/08/technology/youtube-radical.html …

They cannot compete, so they destroy. Don't be fooled into thinking it's about anything more than $$$. They have found a way to lump everyone into a category to dispose of them. If the color "blue" was considered offensive, they'd call their opponents "the blue wearers".

It's always hilarious to hear the media arm of a weapons manufacturing conglomerate talking about the threat to civilization posed by shoestring Youtube operations.

Socrates bemoaned the written word for the same reason. Readers can be uncritical when they just accept the written word. Reading does not ensure critical thinking, reasoning, or learning. Societies evolve, the Internet changed the way we communicate.

I think some studies show this, but that’s true of screens in general. Reading on paper is more conducive. And even then, it depends what you read. I think we just need a better civic culture, which I don’t think we’ll get anytime soon.

The reason radicalization is more prevalent now than in the past is primarily that we’ve reached a point where hateful people realize they can use this medium to indoctrinate receptive young minds and those young minds are less young now but still indoctrinated.

What's crazy the Corporations are regulating what society consumes. Seems it's not only the government that can tread on you in this era. Seems like a dilemma do you want to advocate for the government to tread on corporations on behalf of the people or just do nothing.

-
Very smart point. Is this another symptom of corporate dominance of politics? Plutocracy.
