The elite media continues its quest to pressure tech companies into more stringently regulating speech, in the name of combating “extremism” and “hate” -- whatever that meanshttps://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/06/08/technology/youtube-radical.html …

It’s also disturbing, as a general matter, how many young people apparently form a political identity entirely by watching YouTube videos. They don’t read. They just watch stuff. That’s never going to be conducive to deep thinking, learning, and/or reasoning

LOOK, the ONLY way to combat Flat Earth Theory is to erase Flat Earth Theory from YouTube because it's sooo persuasive!

“Safety” my ass. These are the same people that insist verbal insults qualify as violence. Their parents are to blame for refusing to spank them for dangerous misbehavior.

It also means addressing the roots of what makes young people suggestible to radicalized views. They are unmoored from any common social value system and are in search of community and meaning.

Ah, but actually making arguments involves work. Worse yet: people might start thinking that the alt-right's not totally wrong, or at least has some kind of real point. Can't have that!

As to what's a 'wacky belief': it's become painfully clear that what's a 'wacky belief' is embarrassingly time-dependent. The mainstream world view of 2019 America would have sounded demented in 1984.
