Steven Crowder is an unfunny blowhard, but Carlos Maza is professional adult journalist employed by a major media organization -- not some kid being bullied on a playground. The idea that YouTube needs to "protect" him is ridiculous and infantilehttps://spectator.us/steven-crowder-carlos-maza-playground/ …

I don't know if Maza self-describes as a "journalist" but he produces political content for Vox under the ostensible guise of journalism. Either way, he's employed by a major media organization. Variety calls him a "chronically bullied gay Hispanic video journalist"pic.twitter.com/aAeP0ReWeb

I'm sorry but if you actually enjoy this crap you're almost certainly a gigantic dunce. Good thing you don't have to defend someone on the merits to defend them against being arbitrarily penalized by tech companies in response to hysterical mob pressure!pic.twitter.com/6Co9G8HTxc

Crowder is a juvenile doofus, but Maza is juvenile in his own special way by demanding that tech authorities impose disciplinary action on his adversaries. If you can't withstand mockery online, don't choose a profession that entails making provocative political statements online

If you're a public figure, like Maza, you simply have to expect ridicule: including the kind of buffoonish, demeaning ridicule Crowder specializes in. It comes with the territory. Your aversion to mean insults doesn't entitle you to dictate what speech is permitted on YouTube

Turning the tech companies -- who were never supposed to be active arbiters of speech, just facilitators of it -- into functionaries of the government and the elite media, with all the political baggage that entails, is extremely dangerous. If you can't see that, you're a moron

Crowder and Maza feed off each other in a perverse way. They're both invested in stoking petty online culture war battles, because it's good for their respective "brands." If these are the types of people elevated to the top of the contemporary media hierarchy, we're 100% screwed

I miss the days when comedians didn't take political sides w/ their routines & went after everyone. Maza is just another thin skinned non-entity who has a global stage thanks social media. Any other day he would have a poorly Xeroxed newsletter somewhere in the East Village.

It's astounding that you've mistaken an anti-homophobia movement for an anti-hurting-one-guy's-feelings movement.

If it was about fighting homophobia Maza should be elevating the voice of other LGBT+ creators who are abused and downtrodden. He's not, he's making this all about him and his vendetta with Crowder and telling me he's doing it on *my* behalf.
