Lol, noted Twitter troll and “political satirist” @MollyJongFast hosts a podcast alongside someone called @CIAspygirl (former CIA operative and “comedian”) plus longtime Clinton operative Philippe Reines. The modern media ecosystem is so laughably corrupt, it’s incrediblepic.twitter.com/jB4OUf3PUx

Corrupt? A podcast? Please explain. Should I scan the universe of podcasts so I can complain about the ones I don't like? What's your point?

I’m opposed to intelligence officials insinuating themselves into the broader media ecosystem and assuming quasi-journalistic authority, but you’re one of the worse offenders in that regard, so I wouldn’t expect you to comprehend my point of view.

I reject that your claimed "authority" should be accepted to mean that your analysis is correct. Especially since you've been claiming for years that Trump "colluded" with Russia, which we now know is a debunked conspiracy theory.pic.twitter.com/bxk72iDwub

You asked me, "What's your point?" When I told you my point, you said, "I'm not really interested in what you think." OK then. Either way, I don't care whether you are interested in what I think. I'm interested in pointing out how you and your colleagues are corrupting the media.

Well then you're successful. What exactly is the media ecosystem? I speak and write on intelligence and foreign policy issues. If we're gonna play that game, I'd ask that you not speak about shit you know nothing about. For example, this woman's podcast.

Uh oh. This is a problem. I own a blog that analyzes current events. http://www.affiliate-network.co  Are Special Operators allowed to insinuate themselves in the media ecosystem without becoming journalists? If so, can I just go to whatever crash course Hannity attended? Thanks.

So only journalists can be authorities? By the way I don't claim to be an authority or expert but I know a damn lot more than you do about intelligence and Russian subversion.

@mtracey, do you not think that former Intelligence Officers, who have expertise in the area, have an obligation to speak publicly (and that means through the “media ecosystem) about issues of critical importance. Shouldn’t a patriot speak up?

Short answer -yes. Just as I should speak out on issues I have an expertise in. It is up to the consumer (or reader in this case) to read, analyze and file away information that they deem appropriate and useful. If they don't understand something or need clarification. Then ask

So, ummm, who is allowed to insinuate themselves into the broader media ecosystem and assume quasi-journalistic authority? Are there credentials other than “knowing what you’re talking about” and having a network of other people who know what they’re talking about?

A journalist can write about a wide variety of things they might wish to investigate. I don't go in search of topics. Instead I write about my experience. It's hardly journalism. At the same time we can't assume a journalist is automatically an expert on everything they cover.

Mr Tracey, I understand you may have developed some antibodies on principle over the tone of Brennan/Clapper postings; however, reasoned, even if probative, comments by experts (such as Mr Sipher) should be welcomed by amateur or professional journalists and citizens.
