Mueller entirely changed the calculus around impeachment this week -- even Bernie had to give in and hop on the bandwagon after that melodramatic press conference. Mueller is now an overtly political actor, and impeachment is his desired political outcomehttps://spectator.us/the-inevitability-of-impeachment/ …

All the "top tier" presidential candidates now support initiating impeachment proceedings, except Biden. That reflects the incentives operative within the Democratic Party. And it means that Pelosi cannot hold out on this for much longer. The pressure is reaching a critical mass

Amash is also important. Yes, he's just one person. But he's still a Republican. And his advocating impeachment proceedings gives the endeavor at least a faint patina of bipartisan support. He's also clearly approaching this from principle, even if you disagree with him (as I do)

One thing people haven't really recognized: Bernie changed his position on impeachment following Mueller's statement. Mueller is manifestly acting in a political capacity. So he exerted political influence on Bernie. What does that say about Bernie?

#AALNM He’s also potentially financially motivated. At the very least his company’s ties to China and his meeting with them before his statement raises a cloud of questions.

And let's be clear on one thing, some can say Amash's call for impeachment is based on principles, but they're not based on libertarian principles. Far from it.

I see it as more opportunistic as he is likely on his way out and is buying favour to propel his career outside of politics.

Thank you so much for explaining which people are acting in good faith (Amash, Barr, Trump, etc) and which are acting in bad faith (Mueller, Bernie, 400 bipartisan former prosecutors, etc). So glad you have resisted the urge to become an authoritarian-loving reactionary.

@justinamash is one of the most principled People in Congress. I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt and truly believe his position on impeachment comes out of what he believes to be correct having actually *read* the report.
