The 1994 crime bill caused lots of problems, but it's telling that Dem candidates are focusing on a 25 year old bill to attack Biden, rather than the criminal justice record of the Obama/Biden administration. Trump enacted more sweeping criminal justice reform than Obama ever did

This is misleading. That justice reform effort began under Obama and would have been enacted then if the GOP would have allowed it. Trump roled back civil rights protections and police oversight from the Obama era, among many other things. Stop showing your ignorance.

Misleading how? Trump signed into law a more sweeping criminal justice reform bill than Obama ever did. Do you dispute that statement? The ACLU said exactly this.

Calling the First Step Act "sweeping CJ reform" might help get you spots on Fox, but it's terribly misleading. Additionally, you might benefit from examining the record of a certain Jeff Sessions, who rolled back nearly every DOJ reform of the Obama admin.https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/jeff-sessions-just-endorsed-an-unconstitutional-fine-on-the-poor/2018/01/09/87ccffc6-f268-11e7-97bf-bba379b809ab_story.html?utm_term=.33bb7aeeb147 …

Obama would have in his 2nd term but was blocked by a GOP Senate. And Trump's clemency record will be significantly worse than Obama's as measured in total number of federal commutations. I say this as someone who bashed Obama's timidity on this issue throughout his presidency.

So the moron in chief ended "advisory"guidelines? Reinstated "parole"? Ended mandatory minimums? Revoked DOJ policy to seek top count? Ended private Prisons? Changed its mind on consent decrees? Ended statutory presumptions? defunded local militarization? Just what has it done?

Biden’s crime bill and bankruptcy bill were the two most consequential (in a bad way) laws for poor people in general, and African Americans in particular, of the last generation. I’d say that’s relevant.

The 1994 crime bill increased mass incarceration more than any period in US history. It expanded and established the carceral state we currently live within. Biden co-authored that legislation. It is one of the most important and damaging pieces of legislation in US history.
