We’re in for a nightmare. Ratings will incentivize the media to obsess over impeachment as they did w/ Russiagate. Democrats will be incentivized to pursue impeachment to cover up for collusion failure & appease base. Vital issues will remain sidelined - and all this helps Trump.
-
-
Right, but does that energy reach the swing states & independent voters that actually decide the election?
-
Keeps both “bases” trapped in hatred, keeps actual issues at bay. Keeps Trump at mercy of establishment if he were thinking of bolting.

That won't mean shit if it excuses the Dems to push through a corprotist like Biden under that pretense. Hell one thing we have seen the past two years is when a candidate talks about Russia collusion, their base gets angry at them.

It doesn’t. It distracts them from the real issues at hand and deludes them into thinking they’ve got the upper hand. It’s all theater, all manipulation.

Perhaps, Michael. But energizing voters based on a salacious distraction plays to the worst human instincts and further "dumbs down" political discourse. Cynical operatives may choose that path, but I decry such action.
-
Literally. Haha! It's greedy, stupid, and short sighted. If B (or B adjacent) is nom, it matters little who wins b/c policy agenda is almost the same. That's the real problem, but there's no $ innit.

Dems lose again. Whether impeachment succeeds or fails, they go into late 2020 with no clear positions on any issues.
-
And when they lose, it will be proof that Russia has interfered again.

Again, I have to ask, what will the base do if there is no impeachment? Will they be un-energized and stay home on election day?

I am in the Dem base (longtime Dem voter and campaign volunteer), I am not energized by lies about Russigate, I want to give up and move to a foreign country.

The Dem base is already energized. But the GOP base would be newly energized and that would really help Trump.

Who are the Dem base?
-
I ask also. I mostly vote D and never R but have never felt represented except by people who are usually not going to win b/c It's not a democratic process. From there we can deduce it?

"Weak or not, it energizes Dem base, which was not sufficiently energized in 2016" Wow, that's what energizes the Dem base,
that is pitiful.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Michael, by next week they'll be on to something else. None of this stuff has had any legs so far, and if you count the campaign we are three years into this "process".

Aha, but why is that the case? People vote against rather than for because that's the only choice we get. In that case we vote for someone we aren't supposed to (off duo) or may the funniest freak win, depending on state.

these tweets will continue for the next year. And the investigation will most likely prove Trump's case. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1134057302821150722 …pic.twitter.com/Y7uqzFM1vb
