Don't agree with Justin Amash's analysis on impeachment, but respect his independence and willingness to defend his views in public, including a 2+ hour town hall yesterday in Grand Rapids. More elected officials should have that mindset, whether or not you agree on the substance

Trump supporter wearing a MAGA hat asked Amash why he suddenly became a Democrat. Amash replied that he was elected in the "Tea Party" wave, has the most fiscally conservative record in Congress, and GOP has stopped caring about spending. All true, impeachment question aside

GOP's total fraudulence on the issue of spending, deficit, and debt -- which they screamed about nonstop every single day throughout Obama's presidency, in complete bad faith -- is a gigantic and under-remarked-upon deception. Amash is correct to point that out

Paul Ryan ran as the GOP's vice presidential nominee in 2012 and his primary criticism of Obama/Biden related to spending, deficit, and debt. Then he became Speaker of the House under a unified GOP government and ballooned spending, deficit, and debt. Fraud of epic proportions

That's a nice sentiment except he showed no independence, he just parroted the opposite party's talking points.

Have you actually seen the substance, though? I've seen one concrete example about Mueller's feelings about obstruction but nothing else. This feels far more like a feeler for a presidential run; brave stand to take, sure, but more meat please.

It isn't whether I agree with his views or not. It whether I agree with whether it is his views and the intent behind them. They are suspect for me.

Like many politicians, Trump will come out of this clean and a richer man. We won't know about his dirty deeds until the end of his presidency.

Depends on why he’s doing it, and I suspect in this case it’s based not on principle but rather on opportunism and $.

Why is it people always take the passive-aggressive way of disagreeing with Amash? They say “I like him but disagree with him”, yet never say what they disagree with. All of it? Some of it? How is he wrong?
