Carl Benjamin, aka Sargon of Akkad, finished in a smashing 6th place in Southwest England, winning an incredible 3% of the vote. No European parliamentary seat for Carl. Back to semi-intelligible YouTube rants about "classical liberalism," I guess

It’s good to know the US is not the only country with a reality tv/politics revolving door.

It would be kind of embarrassing to have a YouTuber be your rep in the European Union Parliament, wouldn't it?

Epic dunk on someone who did the civically righteous thing by running for political office to stand up for his political beliefs. Good stuff man!

Never say never. Last time I checked a real estate tycoon and a bartender got elected. These online raconteur may need to go through an iteration of failure before favor is bestowed on them

I'm British. It's solely about respectability and we tend to vote for parties, not people. Carl chose to run on a UKIP ticket, a party with a tarnished reputation in the UK (over crazy rhetoric). Farage has been clever using UKIP as leverage to position his party as respectable.

Nailed it. “The Brexit Party” is perfect branding. I wouldn’t use a lazy claim of “controlled opposition” (rhymes with “conspiracy theory”) with Sargon or Tommy Robinson, but it’s certainly possible in this case. I greatly enjoyed Sargon’s street platform. Great for Free Speech.
