What if you dislike WikiLeaks for its lack of ethics and don’t consider Assange a journalist, but believe it deserves first amendment protections as a publisher? Just trying to determine whether I have standing.

I have no idea if Assange is guilty. It seems that you are arguing that because you consider him a journalist, that all actions taken by him are protected free speech. Does this mean that anyone identifying as a journalist is incapable of committing a crime?

Assange stepped over the uncrossable line when he assisted in the passwords.

I like Wikileaks but if this opens the door for DOJ to crack down on other journalists I’m ok with it

In 2016, the Russians, through DCLeaks, Guccifer 2.0, and WikiLeaks, injected information directly into the US political system. Everybody--campaign, media, voters--saw it. Media used it. Even CNN!

Trump? Assange was hiding in the basement of the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, in fear that if he was extradited back to Sweden, he would be extradited to the US eventually. Who was president 6 years ago?

Assange should have released his proof that he didn’t get the DNC emails from Russia and taken out the deep state way before now. No sympathy. Trump has enough problems.
-
Correct. I believe this is the DOJ’s way of getting Assange to officially reveal his source for the DNC emails

The irony being that that it is the Trump DOJ now attempting to prosecute Julian Assange with outrageous charges.
