At this point, you actually are obligated to explain your deeper motives, since your contrarianism has created a new fan club and new associations that someone with your professed motives should not be accommodating.

Well, you don’t necessarily need those to be a journalist. But the White comparison is potent. Tracey seems to think he’s an uncompromised actor who shoots down the hypocrisies of compromised actors, but he seems to in fact be an actor who confuses contrarianism with principle.

And yes, the rush of new redhat and white nationalist followers is damning. Tracey’s retort that you can’t control who follows you is asinine. No, you can’t, but you CAN make it clear that you don’t welcome their support. Why Tracey won't do this is beyond comprehension.

You have no idea what I've done reporting-wise, you're just "raging" on the basis of faulty information and no, I have no desire to appease your disingenuous demands by providing examples of reporting I've done. Go obsess about something else.

I've always categorically rejected the notion that anyone on Twitter is responsible for the random people who engage with them (you're engaging me right now, and I'm not responsible for you.) If you affirm that fantastically idiotic guilt-by-association logic, have a party.

You have an obligation to make it clear to these people that they are not welcome. Just as Trump did. We both know why he refused to do so. To project those motives onto you would be ludicrous, yet you refuse to denounce this new audience for reasons known only to yourself.

I reject the logic that anyone is obligated to "denounce" an undefined group people with whom they have no tangible association other than Twitter engagement, which isn't a real association. It's insanity. I denounce specific individuals when they deserve it.

You act as if you have no idea why each individual among the redhat crowd has chosen to cheer you on and that it’s all a case-by-case basis. That is absurd. You know why. And it’s your responsibility to set them straight, before their share of your following grows even more.
