What's amazing about this post, Glenn, is that the same thing is happening to people in the States because of the rise of white nationalists--and you have the gall to defend one of your allies who called that problem "nonexistent" and sneered at people who are trying to stop it.

The same thing is NOT happening in the U.S. Gay congressmen are not resigning & fleeing for their lives here. NYC city council members are not being slaughtered by rightwing cops. Gay leftists here do not remotely require the massive security the Miranda-Greenwald family does.

Remember the
#MAGAbomber? Have you spoken with any Jewish or feminist journalists who have dared to tangle with the alt-right? And trust me, George Soros requires twice the security detail that Glenn does.3 replies 1 retweet 61 likes -

Also, I guess
@IlhanMN just slipped down the old memory hole WRT members of Congress, didn't she?https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2019/04/ilhan-omar-death-threat/ …1 reply 0 retweets 29 likes -

Look, I think it's obvious that things are objectively worse in Brazil. Bolsonaro is much more openly fascist and thuggish than Trump, and the vigilante/death squad activity is frightening. But denying that it's also happening here is just fucking obscene.

And, to be clear, I don't deny right-wing nationalism is a threat in the US or anywhere else. My general disagreement with liberals is about its causes & the best tactics for battling it. My scorn began with
@zdroberts for claiming I'm insulated from it by "walled compounds."4 replies 1 retweet 15 likes -

So how do you recommend that we battle it and when can I expect to see you covering it in person in the US so that you can see how well your theories work?

Here's one recommendation: stop inflating their significance to cosmic proportions and validating their delusions of grandeur

Dude, no ones asking you. We know where you stand on this issue as someone who has never covered it.

Dude, you have no idea what I have and have not covered. I covered Alex Jones and right-wing apocalyptic Christians long before most of these antifa-journalists learned how to tweet. You're also constantly maligning me in a thread I'm tagged in, so I'll respond if I want. Dude.

Ok, why do you think that Cville was a "one off" when there has been multiple mass shootings by white supremacists in the last 3 years? Was the shooting in Pittsburgh or Charleston not something that you paid attention to?

For the same reason that I believe the Orlando mass shooting in 2016 was a "one-off" -- despite vague ideological similarities you can infer between it and other attacks, it was not part of a sweeping, coordinated, mass-organized ideological movement
