    Michael Tracey Retweeted Jake Tapper

Can someone explain what's supposed to be so outrageous about this statement? Invasive state power was used to surveil US citizens under circumstances that at the very least were highly dubious. I remember when "civil libertarians" cared about such thingshttps://twitter.com/jaketapper/status/1129348365211320320 …

“Government power was used to spy on American citizens,” Mr. Barr told The Wall Street Journal, in his first interview since taking office in February. “I can’t imagine any world where we wouldn’t take a look and make sure that was done properly.” https://www.wsj.com/articles/barr-review-of-origins-of-fbis-trump-russia-probe-could-lead-to-rule-changes-11558090803 …

The many people reacting to it with outrage. I didn't claim that you personally characterized it as outrageous.

Ultimately, the American left is in great fear of losing its unconditional adoration of Barack Obama - more than losing his policies, more than basic civil liberties.

Honestly, I think as the investigations move forward, you'll find most people are for it. Only msm hacks and propagandists are against it.

I agree with Barr's statement, but I don't place much faith in his civil libertarian instincts or his doggedness in exposing the corrupt machinations of power. Too bad nearly everyone to his left seems to have abdicated responsibility on this issue in the name of #resistance.

The outrageous portion of this is that it is now being mentioned as a bad thing by some in power - as it has been used against them and not the "great unwashed" out there.

When people are suspected of becoming tools of foreign government's who want to harm our country, of course the FBI is going to do surveillance. What is especially alarming is that it is still quite likely that the Kremlin has information on #FatNixon that gives them leverage.

Even the libertarian movement is overrun with open boarders people vs closed boarder people similar to the debate between right and left generally. There is no consensus as far as i can see, and its only going to get worse closer to the election.
