Florida is about to make it a "hate crime" to "demonize Israel." Utterly insane. These numbskulls in the state legislature are really going to criminalize ordinary political speechhttps://www.thecentersquare.com/florida/florida-legislature-delivers-anti-semitism-law-for-desantis-to-sign/article_55995e22-6ab3-11e9-945f-6bdcae8a6e70.html …

To top it all off, Gov. Ron DeSantis is actually planning to *go to Jerusalem" and hold a ceremony in which he signs this bill. Just amazing

So if you are a student at Florida State University and you say something in class that could be construed by some special snowflake as "demonizing Israel," they could cry about how offended they are and report you to administrative authorities as having violated the law

The first bullet point might be the only legitimate point in the list. You can't criminalize speech and opinions you don't like. What?

Im a Christian conservative who supports Israel and im totally opposed to this. Going to be monitoring the responses on the Right very closely. You can't wail about tech censorship when this is the *definition* of government free-speech infringement. Concerning.

These special protections groups of people are receiving from speech that can be CONSTRUED as "demonizing" is regressive. Disappointed in my state legislative branch & Governor...

Awful, but when ACLU takes this on in court there is no way it can be constitutional

I don't see how this will not get struck down on free speech grounds.

This only works if you have expensive lawyers willing to take this up the chain. They know this, which makes them twice as cyncial/evil.
