I have issues with Tlaib but this is a disgusting distortion of what she said. She said it was “calming” to contemplate how her ancestors gave Jews safe haven after the Holocaust. If you disagree with her, use facts/reason instead of emotional manipulationhttps://twitter.com/repleezeldin/status/1127640722222481408 …

.@RashidaTlaib says the Holocaust gives her “a calming feeling” calling for a 1 state solution putting Jews in the minority & out of power of their own country. This is a heart filled w darkness & how the Holocaust began in 1st place. Listen @ 28 min mark. https://play.acast.com/s/skullduggery/fromrashidawithlove …

Here’s the full quote. Quibble with it however you want, but to portray her as somehow expressing gratitude for the Holocaust is a malicious and despicable slurpic.twitter.com/dB9Fs4aJ35

You're the only one I hear saying that. You're right. She wanted to get her lucks in about Palestinians being displaced, but what she said here was truly not bad. It's like people hear key trigger words and reorganize them to suit whatever they want to hear.

My point is that Democrats always get the benefit of the doubt from the media when they say something that can be viewed more than one way. Not true when something like this comes out of the mouth of a Republican.

Moreover, her lament is quite clearly the opposite; an abiding empathy for victims of the Holocaust and a sense of having participated in their protection & resuscitation. Sad that it has to be unpacked and spelled out again.

It's bullshit that both sides do, and I hate it no matter who is doing it. In my mind, the only speech that should be regulated is that which comes from elected officials/candidates. Somehow, they should not be allowed to purposefully deceive voters

Yeah. I didn’t like this at all. I am against this sort of deceptive paraphrasing to create an emotional response from either side. She has enough flaws to attack without needing to make them up.

she's right, the Holocaust was the reason the Israeli settlers were able to take Palestinian land and shove the survivors into refugee camps, is this even in doubt?

Seeing a lot of strategic dishonesty from the right about this, they can get away with it though because Talib and Omar will not publicly take a position affirming Israel’s sovereingty, they are being fundamentally dishonest about the Muslim attitude on it.

i will never understand any reasons given by Israel for doing what you mention in that last comment. & US attacks anyone for saying it outloud, I think they have it in law that you can't ask why Israel has concentration camps after taking homes & assets from Palestinians.

If she hadn’t made anti-Semitic comments in the past I’d be inclined to believe this was a mis-construed comment. In context of past statements, to me, the remainder of her quote is a CYA after she let her ‘calming’ comment slip. My opinion in context of past comments.
