The latest poll from South Carolina shows Joe Biden with support from 58% of black voters -- 43% above his nearest competitor (Sanders). Where are the articles about how these voters' support for Biden signals a widespread rejection of "identity politics" in the Dem electorate?

Michael, I like you a lot, but you're really starting to sound like Nate Silver. This is another poll sampling primarily in the 50+ crowd with the smallest representation coming from millennials.

Because millennials make up a smaller portion of the Democratic primary electorate.

Hey good point. Problem with that idea is that Obama never produced for the black people and they know it. Their affinity for Obama is romanticism. I doubt those warm and fuzzies tranlate over to a stale white man who's been in govt for 50 years. It has to be something else.

Most of the identity politics takes are pretty dumb and shallow.

As an R, I was much encouraged. Dems want to win. 80 percent of Dems.

I can’t take a statistic that high seriously, especially where it’s Biden. I’m looking that up, calling screwy polling (like the over-50 cnn one). Be right back, with receipts.

Okk, it’s http://changeresearch.com  poll, weighted 595, free to access. It’s actually got an interesting methodology. But it’s “favorable opinion” of Joe, not Joe vs. with a 46% Joe in primary. But if their preferred isn’t there Bernie 21, Kampala 20, and Biden 17. BUT (1/2)

It’s because Michael is a huge Trump fan and would love Trump to go up against Biden because that means younger voters sitting out the election again, leaving more votes for Trump.

What indication is there that SC is a bellwether in any regards? Pointing at one or even a few southern states doesn't amount to much - especially given that the methodology of these polls/pollsters seem to aggressively discount the under-50 crowd

it's still Obama identity politics - it's why Biden has to say he's an "Obama Biden" Democrat

This “poll” like many others reported has a very small sample. Beyond understanding why such polls are reported unless an attempt at propaganda.

Hillary Clinton did better. The establishment still has tremendous power to stack the deck, but they will never be able to generate the high enthusiasm for Biden that Dems need to win in 2020.

Identity politics is all that is left for establishment dems. Ask any dem primary voter over 50, number one thing is beat Trump, number two...normalcy. Biden is this in spades
