    Michael Tracey Retweeted Britain Elects

A party that was founded literally a few months ago (by Nigel Farage granted, but still) is currently leading all traditional UK parties in the upcoming EU elections. Dynamic worth bearing in mind for US purposes; lots of fluidity in Western politicshttps://twitter.com/britainelects/status/1127250825859014656 …

EU elections are really throw away elections in the UK though. The question if is this will carry over into general elections.

They agreed to abide by the results of the referendum. Then people voted for Brexit. Then they reneged. Any person who stands athwart a democratic outcome is a tyrant, and tyrants belong at the gallows.

Cue Richard Dawkins now saying there shouldn't be voting after months of saying there should be another referendum.

I wish we had more than two viable parties. It would be nice to have, say, a viable Libertarian Party, a Progressive Party, and then the other two could be called the Neo Republican Party and Neo Democratic Party lol

I think the legislative priority has to be on electoral reform. It's difficult to pitch because it seems to abstract when there are all these urgent economic needs, but none of them will be achieveable under this current system.

If you do not like the current system, change it. In the US we are stock with the same 2-party started we have had for over 100 years.

US needs a Constitutional amendment barring winner-take-all elections. We should have proportional representation in congress, so people aren't afraid to vote for parties they actually believe in.

Too bad we are stuck with a 2-Party system that is not fluid at all, just predictably corrupt and controlled on both sides.

Why the caveat for Nigel Farage? #Brexit won the day and politicians in the UK are working against the will of the people. Is it because he's conservative?

We had a taste of that fluidity with the Tea Party. Trump is the natural outgrowth of that desire for change. You could even argue BHO reflected a desire for change, until he went full paranoid party line.

The trend of economic nationalism was not a fluke and hasn't subsided. A significant majority rejects the idea of being a cog in the New World Order.
