Obama is in a unique situation for the 2020 cycle. It's a wide open Dem field, he is still extremely popular in the Party, and theoretically he could be the kingmaker. That's a bit rare for former presidents. GOP wanted nothing to do with Bush in 2008. Same with Clinton in 2000

Apparently some tweeters replying to this don't understand that I'm talking about the Democratic primary race. Not the general election. If he were to endorse a candidate for the nomination, yes, it would be a massive boost. Probably the most valuable endorsement one could get

Yeah, but your comment in Clinton in 2000 is off. He was quite popular. Economy booming, people were unhappy he couldn't run again and if he had been allowed to likely would have won. It was Gore who distanced himself and paid a price for it.
