Tulsi receives another unusual endorsement: from Ron Paul. "Tulsi Gabbard is by far the very, very best," he sayshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4OFm4Q93U4 …

You can discount this but Ron Paul came in third in the 2012 GOP New Hampshire primary. There is no party registration required in NH. And there will likely be no contested GOP race. So libertarians, independents, and assorted others could easily vote for Tulsi

Lots of "libertarians" and former Ron Paul supporters ended up voting for Trump even though he denounced free trade and frequently evinced an aggressive hostility to civil liberties, so don't tell me Tulsi is automatically disqualified by any "purity test" they may impose

Libertarian. I’ve said a few times to friends and on here I’d vote for Tulsi primarily on the basis of her overwhelmingly non interventionist ideology.

For many libertarians, foreign policy is the most important issue to consider when choosing a President. That's why I would strongly consider voting for Tulsi if she gets the Democratic nomination. I've already donated to her primary campaign as it is

It shouldn't just be libertarians. Thanks to the imperial presidency, foreign policy is the only area where a Democratic president will be able to actually do any of the things they promise.

No need to put libertarian in quotes. As a libertarian, I am not opposed to voting strategically for the least bad candidate available. I’ve considered registering D to vote for Tulsi in the primaries. Marching orders from Ron Paul are all I needed.

Obviously, I hold actual Libertarian candidates to a much higher purity standard because they’re carrying the banner for an ideology that needs consistent messaging when it gets media attention.

the sad reality is people have to choose between specific candidates and there is a point where it is hard to vote on principal(especially where there are tight races)...and we end up seeing people vote for what they see as being the lessor of 2 evils

I live in an open primary state and routinely vote for the most antiwar candidate available in the primary in an attempt to move the major parties in a more sensible direction. I'd have a hard time voting for Tulsi in the general, but she wins my vote hands down in the primary.

Don't know that Trump denounced "free trade." Did denounce NAFTA. Libertarians will argue NAFTA wasn't actual "free trade," but "managed trade." DT was been "re-assessed," and Tulsi is NOT disqualified.

I'm a Libertarian who voted for Trump but never interpreted he was "against" free trade. He was, and is, against imbalanced trade agreements, one way tariffs, etc. Love "free trade", but like with so many other global issues, why should the US always take the bullet on principle?
