So many people in our political, media, and entertainment class were emotionally traumatized by the result of the 2016 election and never recovered. Hence their complete inability to assess the ensuing events (e.g., Russia/Mueller) with any semblance of rationalitypic.twitter.com/b7mHWM47gz

If you're a regular citizen and you have an outsized emotional response to a political event: OK. Not going to judge too harshly. But if you're a journalist or political professional, it's your job to resist that. Or to at least restrain yourself. It's childlike behavior

Ability to get past the emotional response should be a pre-requisite of being a journalist. It seems that 80-90% of journalists are just not qualified for their jobs.

Yeah, it’s not emotional triggers. These people are puppets of the establishment. The “trigger” story is just a cover. Don’t give them any.

They're trying to create emotions in their viewers, they are't experiencing anything except deeply cynical satisfaction from being manipulative

As regular citizens we have an outsized stake in who wins or loses. Wealthy, protected, elites like @chelseahandler not so much. It’s just a temper tantrum over her team losing in the political Super Bowl.

I think a journalist needn’t resist an emotional response to an election, but they do need to then look deeply and critically at what led to the election. What the must resist is confirmation bias in their reporting that soothes their jangled nerves.

I agree, during 2016 campaign, the DNC /HRC’s emails reveal that certain reporters were allowing Dems to edit their reports. In that sense, the they were political operatives ... not really interested printing facts.

Chelsea Handler is arrogant like many in Hollywood and the trauma came from not being right, that is a big component of the meltdown. Immature response to immature emotional states.

She is neither of those and her instincts were spot on. Our "president" accepted help from Russian financiers to win the presidency. Trump has just been crowing about collusion for two years because he knows it's the one thing he can't be convicted of because it's not a thing.
