The sentencing judge apparently suggested that Butina had something to do with "Russian interference" in 2016, but Robert Mueller interviewed her and her name appears nowhere in the report. This was a transparent political prosecution and it's despicablehttps://twitter.com/ZoeTillman/status/1121805208877711361 …

I truly have nothing but contempt for the media scolds and Twitter moralizers who felt authority to opine on Butina's private life and romantic decisions. As if she was the first woman in history to date an older man. Just disgusting

COMPARE & CONTRAST Here is how the Maria Butina sentence compares to old FARA cases. http://www.unz.com/akarlin/butina-sentenced/ … Conclusion: USA more hostile to Putin's Russia than it was to Saddam-era Iraq or the country that sheltered a terrorist who killed 3,000 of its own citizens.pic.twitter.com/9Mb44rC73h

Where is the outcry from feminists in support of a woman who has been systematically persecuted and degraded in the court of public opinion? Oh that's right, she's not a neolib so she deserves to be thrown to the wolves. Burn the witch! Double standards = Zero credibility

Ironically theyre able to get away with this exactly bc Russian lobbying has such little influence in DC. Anyone paying attn knows if they were really concerned about foreign influences theyd go after KSA and Israel nationals

Russiagate, like any good witchhunt, finally finds its witch to scapegoat for the sins of the community. Scarlet letter for her.

Trying to improve US-Russia relations is a secret felony. It interferes with the MIC gravy train.

Uh, my dude, that’s not networking. I would know. I was in the same grad program as Butina (but a year ahead of her, I think). We were not taught to network by leveraging our contacts in DC on behalf of foreign governments. There’s another word for that.

Not only that but the media has portrayed her as a “spy.” Fox News had a headline on Brett Bauer’s show last night that identified her as a “spy.” They never actually give details or explain why she’s in prison. Bizarre.

She didn’t register as a foreign agent.

This prosecutorial behavior is what we tend to criticize in foreign countries. Unreal!
