It's not a matter of "breaking ranks." There is internal dissension within the Intercept all the time. The hostility derives from the fact that the staffer decided to anonymously peddle tendentious gossip in POLITICO.

They're big boys. They can defend themselves. They certainly have the money & the power. Too bad these brave journalists won't even answer the simplest questions about their billionaire patron and why he shut down the Snowden archives. That's a much bigger story that you ignore.

You can ask them about that subject all you want (and as far as I know they've addressed it) but I'm talking about an entirely separate subject.

I have and they refuse to even respond. And no, they have not addressed it in their publication or to their readers. They steadfastly refuse to say anything about their owner, and that's been true all along. That is not transparency, not by any stretch.

I had a podcast discussion with Greenwald posted last night in which he mentioned Pierre and the absolute right of anyone within the organization to criticize him.https://www.patreon.com/posts/glenn-greenwald-26365124 …

Come on, everyone has the "right" to criticize their owner. Show me a single instance of where an Intercept staffer criticized or wrote anything critical about @pierre's business and political dealings?

I think in other employment scenarios if you publicly and vehemently criticize the owner, you are subject to reprisal. That's not the case at the Intercept

There are many dozens of people who write at the Intercept, and who have written there in the last two years. See if you can find one - just one - who claims that Omidyar or anyone else has restricted or controlled their expression. It's a total lie. What is TI's editorial line?

Michael, nobody in the Intercept has ever criticised Omidyar. The Intercept is a propaganda toy used by Omidyar to gain influence among liberals with a mix of US pro-war bullshit and some soft anti-war stuff, ie like any US mainstream liberal publication
