Why don't you regard Wittes and Wheeler as counter-examples to Greenwald & co.'s claims that everyone (but them) got it wrong? To my mind, that's the problem with Greenwald & co. Wittes and Wheeler aren't outliers, opinion-wise.

Reasonable observers - including Wittes and Wheeler - were open to a range of possible outcomes, ranging from 'very bad' up to 'OMG cartoon collusion is true'. Some resistance folks fixated on the latter, irrationally and wishfully. But that latter group didn't = 'the media'.

Actually, I don't even think I was a collusion mongerer at all. I always was always (a) agnostic about collusion, (b) insistent that the Russia matter required serious investigation, (c) chiefly concerned about the president's interactions with law enforcement (ie obstruction).

My only strong argument for collusion is this, which is about overt acts by Trump and the campaign, not about anything conspiratorial:https://www.lawfareblog.com/course-theres-evidence-trump-colluded-russian-intelligence …

Ben: Granted I didn't graduate from a top-flight law school nor am I friends with Comey or any NSA lawyers, but I'd be happy to discuss with you in podcast form the manner in which you advanced a cartoonish and outlandish view of collusion.
