Having now carefully read the entire Obstruction volume of the Mueller Report, I do think there's a strong possibility that Trump will be indicted on some obstruction charge upon leaving office, most likely by the SDNY. I'm not making a value judgment about this, just observing

Again, I'm not making any normative claim about the utility of such a prosecution. I'm just saying that the fact-pattern laid out by Mueller, as well as the various legal arguments he cites involving obstruction, make reasonably likely that such a prosecution will occur

Chris Christie, a former US Attorney who worked closely with the SDNY, has repeatedly made similar statementshttps://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2019/03/01/chris-christie-mueller-southern-district-new-york-trump-cpt.cnn …

In the case of SDNY, an obstruction charge is probably on stronger footing because there *was* found to be underlying criminality, in the form of the campaign finance violations Cohen pleaded guilty to. So if Trump "obstructed" that investigation, different factors are operative

At the same time, the supreme irony of the only "underlying criminality" found by the Mueller investigation being payoffs to a porn star should not be lost on anyone. (And obviously this would all be thoroughly litigated. Not even clear Cohen's conviction would hold up on appeal)

Much much more importantly, the SDNY has agreed to investigate a claim made by the Lawyers Committee for 9-11 Inquiry into the real perpetrators of those attacks. Remember a 47 story building WTC 7 was not hit by a plain and yet collapsed at free fall speeds.

@POTUS leaves office, most of the political rot will have been cleansed, including those at the SDNY. One can always hope.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

We know from Paul Manaforts charges that Mueller had a wide range for his investigation and prosecutorial discretion. Once again, why would Mueller not charge or recommend charges for Donald Trump if the Man who investigated him for 2+ years failed to find anything actionable

Under what basis would the SDNY have an Obstruction case against a future civilian Trump... in 2024?

They want to destroy the man and send a message that no outsider dare think about doing this again! It sickens me!

That more or less indicates Trumps mental state and beliefs rather than saying the SDNY has jurisdiction over a certain matter.
