law also specifically requires giving unredacted version to congress.

Special counsel law actually doesn't. Which is why House tried passing bill which would have required it, but it was blocked by Graham and McConnell in Senate.

The idea that public disclosure of government records “sacrifices national security” is the same old anti-transparency canard that always gets trotted out. Congress' motives may be purely cynical but that’s not an argument for why this info should be concealed

I didnt see any redactions on the Starr report

Will any of the redactions be sinister or conspiratorial, and how will we know? If we have to trust Barr then the entire system is sinister.
-
I’ll be happy to trust as long as we get to verify first.

This administration has given us little reason to believe otherwise.

They will redact more than just that. It's ok for them to want it as unredacted as possible. I do too, we all should.

Does the requirement for redactions apply to the House Judiciary Committee as well?

If Barr is doing the redacting there is no reason to trust any of it. He is already refusing to release Muller's summary. You would have to be some kind of stupid to believe anything from anyone appointed by Trump. I rest my case.

As other SC or IC have done, DOJ could have easily asked a judge for this testimony to not be redacted for report to congress. Barr was asked to do this by congress, but won't do it - BS move to legally COVER-UP. Barr will claim hands are tied about GJ testimony. It's nonsense.

If only there were a Committee to oversee Judiciary matters in the House that had the requisite clearance to see such details

Hey Mike, I just talked to the world and we're cool with not adding -gate to everything, particularly in a reverse-irony way. Irony isn't really in anymore, we're more about "irony."

You forgot "and that very federal law contains exceptions to that specific requirement, which ought to be appropriately invoked in these circumstance."

Could have just used the ready made Mueller summaries provided for the for the express purpose of release to the public. Not doing so signals, again, that they are hiding information damaging to Individual 1. A white wash.
-
Not doing so indicates that they want to continue this charade, and distract with entertainments of The TRUMP SHOW! Orange man and Barr- the bad cops. Mueller and the DEMS- good cops.
