Netanyahu remaining the face of Israel is bad news for squishy American liberals who still want to pretend that the recent out-of-control behavior exhibited by this violent ethno-state is somehow aberrational, rather than at the core of what the country fundamentally is

The United States is and has been from the start a "violent ethno-state" . It is the core of what our country is. Are there others?

I think many always knew it but was scared to criticise because of the unfortunate correlation of the state with the people itself. It's like the discourse of trashing Islam is okay but let's have solidarity with the Muslims to show we care..humans can be so hollow.

It was really a non-event, this election. From the beginning we new that nobody else could possibly have formed a governing coalition. The rot goes much deeper than just this one man.

Unfortunately yes. Netanyahu was democratically elected. At least Syrian people have plausible deniability since their elections are pretty much a sham.

The Recent out of control behaviour???? Mmmm, guess the history books Americans read don't go as far back as 1948😕 the Israeli (Zionist) state is founded on Out of Control Behaviour/Murder/displacement, of the Indiginous Palestinian/Arab Men,Women, & children funded by Uk/Usa😡pic.twitter.com/CLAhPwwKvo

It doesn’t matter who leads Israel. US will always continue to support Israeli criminality as long as they continue to spread lies & promote regional wars for them in Middle East. War is money & America has a rich history of siding with despots & those who pay their ransom - oil

People (used to) refer to "nation-states" without implicit judgment. Now (typically on the left) they use the phrase "ethno-state" as though it is inherently disparaging.

TBH I mostly hear that term from WNs. But not a repr sample, I rarely pay attention to the left.

I've no problem with Israel existing as an exclusively Jewish ethnostate but I don't want America to be perpetually embroiled in their affairs and I want any ethnic/national group to have the same rights to their own homelands without criticism. Fair enough.

Anyone that supports the far right wing, terrorist nation of Israel cannot pretend they are liberal, progressive or care about equal rights for all humans. Anyone that supports Israel is every bit as despicable as Donald Trump. Trump and Israel are 2 peas in a pod.
