this doesn’t connect to her main point that “whether a youngish candidate is bright/brilliant/promising” vs “inexperienced/off-putting/ruthlessly ambitious” depends on gender.

She works at the NYT so she may not even be aware that Tulsi is still around after the first week of announcing her candidacy, since they and the rest of MSM worked so hard so early to scare people away from her with their "pro-dictator" fear-mongering. She's still standing tho.

Pete’s gay and Tulsi is anti-war. It’s about agenda, not age.

Filipovic is intellectually vacant and is more of a lifestyle boutique approach to journalism and commentary. I've never been able to take her vaguely seriously. She sells eyes to advertisers isnwhy shes there.
-
I actually really hate disparaging people and I dont often but there is a large subset of journalism in Big Media that caters to people by telling us what we want to hear. It's very damaging, and creates divided culture bubbles. I reject journalists selling preconceptions.

Tulsi would have a better shot as a Republican at this point.
-
She and Yang both would. Any time they speak to the right the overwhelming consensus is positive. It's their own party that despises them. Hell, Yang is probaly the only candidate that could get shit passed even with a Republican Senate.

I don't understand this elite feminist demi-monde wherein the wrongs of a world discriminating on the basis of gender & age (Crooked Hillary) are corrected by.....discriminating on the basis of gender & age! ("old, white guys"). And they think that they're the adults in the room.

Who exactly is the writer referring to when she describing Tulsi as "admittedly unlikely'? Who's doing the admitting? My guess is
@JillFilipovic is projecting that Tulsi is "unlikely"as evidenced by her exclusion in the rest of the article. Looks like Jill had her own biases. -
Not just Filipovic. This is the Kucinich treatment. It's a script.

There seems to be a giant vacuum barrier between MSM and indie media. I daresay no one is writing songs or making fan vids about Gillibrand or Klobuchar portraying them as wonder woman or warrior angel.
#TulsiGabbard is the only one getting that! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Perhaps her dogma will get hit by karma?

Maybe I'm just imagining things, but seems to me Mayor Pete's (very modest) rise has been entirely without the help of big media.

The reason they're ignored is largely to do with their politics. They'd love Gabbard if she was a nice, neoliberal centrist. They did the same thing with Sanders for years (or wrote him off as a kook). He just started drawing such big crowds they couldn't (and then they attack).

Don’t worry about him. In the age of authenticity he won’t survive longer than first debate season.

It is an interesting parallel, she is sooo much more qualified. A multi term congresswoman on a buch of important committees compared to a mayor from a place no one has heard of.
