The reason why I keep invoking the Iraq/WMD analogy is because there was no accountability imposed on media who got that episode so fundamentally and catastrophically wrong. Will be exactly the same for Trump/Russia if ordinary citizens don't demand ithttps://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1114351573285703680 …

Josh Marshall, the so-called "liberal blogger" who in 2002/2003 was running around touting how great it would be for the Bush Administration to "democratize" Iraq, also spent 2016-2019 screaming about how Trump was being surreptitiously controlled by Putinhttps://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1103839708742848514 …

Hey remember when @joshtpm kept saying that Manafort was the central figure in some grand Trump/Russia international conspiracy... too bad that appears to have been definitively debunked, considering Manafort has been charged/convicted with zero crimes that pertain to "collusion" pic.twitter.com/zHJYf8qCq3

Josh now wants to pretend that his belief in Trump being a "Russian asset" -- the idea that the Kremlin has been surreptitiously dictating US foreign policy -- was always totally reasonable and "liberal," when in fact it was always crackpot fantasy. And as the cherry on top, here's @joshtpm in 2002 -- then a much-heralded superstar of the Liberal Blogosphere -- parroting the propaganda that Saddam was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. I'm sure Dick Cheney really loved this one!https://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1114509638307930112 …

Finally, while we are at it, is there ANYTHING that which, if found in the actual Mueller report, might cause you to temper your accountability rhetoric? How about letting us know now so you cant move the goalposts later? Everyone should take a step back from absolutes.

harping about WMD in 2019 is like trying to pop a deflated balloon On the other hand it’s absurdly obvious that three towers were blown up in broad daylight on 9/11 but post-traumatic denial/indoctrination is still effectively obscuring this from mosthttps://youtu.be/_ZcVQCRvQWk

There's bigger reasons to invoke Iraq/WMD: Trump-Russia followed a similar gameplan from the beginning, "dodgy dossiers" and all. Steele and Corn know the plan all too well.

But this actually weakens your argument since in fact all the intelligence going back to the Clinton administration said there were WMD, and in fact WMD were found. Just not as many.

This seems to be the important distinction. Whatever one thinks about Iraq decision, it was prompted by bad information, not necessarily bad faith. With Trump/Russia there has been bad faith from the get go, and most media knew it, but ignored or even abetted it.

They won’t be fired b/c editors and management also have TDS. Their woke readers won’t object. So there will be no accountability. It’s a closed system.

Wow, followed you for a long time but every time you say unequivocally ‘they got it wrong’ your credibility as an arbiter of truth goes down a notch—it’s akin to crowing that “collusion is not a crime.” Propaganda for dullards. Educate, don’t bambooozle.
