Since @joshtpm can't quit trolling me day after day on Twitter, just wanted to remind everyone of this classic. Good call, Josh! (once again, there's a very conspicuous overlap between Iraq War "democracy-promoters" like Josh and Trump/Russia collusion trutherspic.twitter.com/e7yuE2nZxx

Hey remember when @joshtpm kept saying that Manafort was the central figure in some grand Trump/Russia international conspiracy... too bad that appears to have been definitively debunked, considering Manafort has been charged/convicted with zero crimes that pertain to "collusion" pic.twitter.com/zHJYf8qCq3

Definitely an overlap: overly trusting of intelligence agencies and the idea of American supremacism.

In most cases, it wasn't even trust. They were quite happy to go with a story, any story, as long as it got them views/clicks/airtime. Especially if it was of a particular political bent.

Not sure why @joshtpm waste his time with you. The key phrase is the lead "as WE move forward...". An element of his writing style that I enjoy, acknowledgement of the current atmosphere and discussion. Not necessarily reflective of his own and not difficult to observe here.

How dare you, Michael. Operation Iraqi Freedom is the single smartest and best foreign policy decision in the history of the United States. You have some nerve slandering George W. Bush, our intelligence community and our military. You’re an unpatriotic Paulbot.

So mass murder is a delicate issue is it? You guys in the US are dealing with a national epidemic of psychopathy with so many bloodthirsty commentators who think democracy is something you force on people and kill those who resist your lunacy.

jesus christ. He can't have not understood that the obvious first implication of reading that blurb is "we should kill more iraqi civilians". I'm not surprised that these are the kind of people russiagaters are, I'm just surprised that he was this blatant about it.

The reason Japan and Germany were successfully rebuilt was because the US wanted them to be Functioning States again ASAP. (Also the Socialist states were back on their feet so fast no one could believe it.) Not so with Iraq and Afghanistan.https://youtu.be/ACtuWYtX-zM

That overlap being you mentioned the two of them in the same sentence? Being an erudite type, I’m sure you know the word “tendentious”. PS Highlighting “trying to democratize Iraq” doesn’t make that one phrase proof Marshall was arguing in favor of it. But you know that.
