Meanwhile, Russia does have WMDs... and the media provided the gasoline, the spark, and the fan for those flames of the hysteria. This could have turned out much worse.

Actually I would argue it’s worse in certain ways. The WMD myth was opposed by western allies and a sizable vocal part of the population. The Russiagate hysteria was and remains a propaganda tool to prosecute the new Cold War throughout the West.
-
And unlike last time, this war is far more dangerous than the last round of geopolitical brinksmanship. The west is literally on Russia’s doorstep, where they have positioned the largest force since 1941. And short and mid ranged nukes are now back in play.

And the consequences of this deception remain to be seen. One reason Germans of the 1930's were susceptible to anti-semitism was the WWI propaganda had convinced them they were winning the war. Why sign armistice? Some group near the seat of power must have betrayed them!

That's bc the ppl pushing for the Iraq/WMDs didn't die in the conflict they advocated for... "At no point in history did we have warmongers who were not warriors... Hannibal... Napoleon... Julian... Valerian.. etc"http://bit.ly/2ELITP8

It’s funny, this reaction. “At least this time we didn’t advocate for something that killed thousands”. As if that’s somehow supposed to earn sympathy points.

Whatever drives the eyeballs is good for all media. Don't be so hard on these outfits, they make a living any reasonable way they can. You expect them to be paragons of some sort?

It is easy to say that the intelligence community here and overseas lied about WMDs in Iraq but to what end? With Trump senior intelligence/law enforcement lied about collusion to get rid of him. So the question remains, why did they lie about WMDs?
-
To create chaos in the Middle East.

The Russiagate story is infinitely worse than WMD's. Saddam had used WMD's. The US had warred against Iraq. Someone (probably within our national security apparatus) mailed Americans anthrax. Facebook posts flipping Mid-West voters is a McCarthy-ite fantasy absent basic logic.

You are being a bit disingenuous about Bernie. I get the transcripts of his rally speeches, I was just at one. In an hour long speech, Russia is never mentioned. Trump not being "above the law" is mentioned once.

The media wasn’t propagating the “hoax,” Trump did everything he could to support a collusion conspiracy: firing Comey, forcing out Sessions, dangling pardons, his incessant tweeting. He’s always been a con artist and a crook. Can’t blame media for responding to his actions.

Thanks, but I muted Michael months ago. Exactly because of goofy, self-aggrandizing tweets like this one.
