Yes. A segment of left-wing Sanders supporters, including Bernie himself, thought getting on board with liberals’ demented Russia fantasy would win them ingratiation points with institutional Dems. That strategy doesn’t seem so hot right now, does it https://twitter.com/carlbeijer/status/1110895984949821440 …

I think Sanders' personal motivations were multivariate but one, consciously or subconsciously, was cultivating a coalitional bond with mainstream libs.

Is Bernie anything other than an institutional democrat? Why else would he endorse pro-corporate, pro-war Clinton after campaigning against corporations and military spending? He performs a valued task for the institutional democrats: corral left-wingers into the Democratic party

Considering that the Sanders supporters & Sanders himself were "on board" risked almost nothing politically this isn't a big deal. Sanders has always been about the big picture and enacting badly needed policy. It's not like this was a big part of his message.

An idiotic strategy that outraged what should be the core of Bernie’s progressive support. I’m waiting to see what the next moves will be, after the letter this week that insists on “full disclosure” of the Mueller report.

luckily, Bernie was fairly non-communal / non-dogmatic about most of his statements having to do with this topic. were he to want/ need to walk any of it back, that would be fairly easy. for him. others were less anodyne in their embrace of this nastiness.

While I don't love Bernie joining Russiagate conspiracy, I can understand it. It was THE official story. It was promoted by every top D figure: president Obama, nominee Clinton, Schumer, Pelosi, D senators as well as "17 agencies" and "neutral" Mueller probe.

I have no doubt Russia would like to screw with us but I really don't think they cared who won in 2016 as either candidate was going to be a "Real Pal."

Michael Tracey has the hots for Tulsi. I would have liked her to be a better candidate but her laid back manner hasn’t proven to be effective. She’s at 0-2% in the polls and struggling to get to the first debates. Not all her fault because of the smears, but still... 1/

Sanders was wedged. He was smeared as a 'Russian agent' first before Trump was, and was an alleged (still no proof) beneficiary of 'the Russians'. In the same way Trump's policy positions became hard on Russia to show he wasn't Putin Jr, Sanders rhetoric towed the line.

With all the Russia histeria, a lot of people didn't want to admit they were watching RT and trusted RT more that MSM. Bottom line: RT is light years better than our corrupted MSM.

I never bought this Russiagate BS because it was hatched by Hillary/Podesta and Co. Bernie is busy and older. He had the Commie scare drilled into him at an early/impressionable age even though it was the 23 million Russians who died beating Hitler.
