Agreed... In a time when journalism has been attacked, they put everything on Russia. The damage that this is gonna cause isn't gonna set in fully for a year or two. Most are gonna slowly realize how much they've been misled. Trump 2020 is a real possibility now.

I think Iraq while a bigger failure, at least the media had the excuse. (We were misled!) Now, people like Rachel Maddow exaggerated reports, misled reports, ignored evidence that countered those claims, etc. They were the ones misleading, it had me waiver a few times myself.

You make it sound like the "media falure" wasn't done on purpose!
It will continue. 6 Corporations own US Media which also profit from wars. Obama made it legal for MSM to lie to the American peoplepic.twitter.com/QMitLJz8A0

They're equally nothing but sheer propaganda which makes both set of lies equally criminal & odious, literally crimes against humanity. The US will be nothing but a failed state until propaganda is once again made illegal as official US policy, which was undone by HerrObama

WMDs were at least believable and we really had no basis or information to know or think otherwise. Russiagate was ENTIRELY unbelievable and half of us have been screaming this since the moment it started.

The difference is that many intelligence agencies legitimately believed there were WMDs and there was reasonable evidence to suggest that was the case. There was never anything remotely plausable about Russiagate and everyone knew it.

Given how Russian interference was described by the political elite and intelligence community as the same as 9/11 or Pearl Harbor, this comparison to WMD is spot on.pic.twitter.com/hdTrU1kGKU

Taibbi makes this point, too, in his searing piece (( know you've read it, MIchael, but linking here in case others haven't):https://taibbi.substack.com/p/russiagate-is-wmd-times-a-million …

i agree, but one major difference, so far, is that the bush administration had to admit there were no wmds. i have yet to see any mccarthy democrats or talking hair-dos admit there was no collusion.

Same same. Both lead to death and destruction.

Agree regarding the networks and the major media. However, it may devastate the Democrat White House chances because they never processed the 2016 loss. 2020 is shaping up as a 2016 replay or worse. Bush was done when the WMD bill came due, and no Republican suffered.

And Trump-Russia lasted longer. The Iraq propaganda campaign was really just the year preceding the invasion.
-
But that also led to all the skirmishes that followed.. Afghanistan, Syria, Libya etc.. once we got into the Middle East the elite went rampant and destroyed everything over there
