Tulsi tonight threw some cold water on “abolish ICE” sloganeering, says that won’t address the root causes of the current refugee crisispic.twitter.com/HoXOYuIQkL

My view: The nature of the sprawling federal law enforcement apparatus is such that if you abolish ICE, another agency (or agencies) would just start performing the same tasks. Abolishing ICE means nothing without systemic changes. It’s little more than a symbolic Twitter slogan

It’s a stupid slogan invented by Twitter idiots that addresses no structural problems. Another agency would just perform the same tasks

I agree with both. ICE has less judicial and congressional oversight than many executive branch authorities. Reigning in their actions can reduce harm even if it doesn’t solve underlying issues. The sloganeering and mass movement may effect how ICE operates, even if superficial

Abolishing ICE won't do anything to fix global warming either, but like the first example, those two things are not related.

Yeah, it’s all about how funds are allocated to these specific agencies, and how much power they’re given. I’m totally in support of #AbolishICE, though, because it’s not doing anything helpful, even under Obama, which was detaining children, too. These agencies are cancerous.

i wish they would go back to INS but that's a totally different story, i don't necessarily agree with abolishing ICE but there should be more oversight on them.... at least body cams

A lot of nice words but in the end saying nothing, ...just skirting around commitment one way or the other.
