Not sure what you mean, but Sirota never claimed to be neutral. His podcast is forthrightly and proudly partisan.

I don't think it's a big deal because Sirota worked for Bernie in the past, wrote as a populist, and is utterly consistent. It's a common story in politics, the difference is Sirota is a populist.

If it was no big deal, he should've just disclosed it. Instead, his concealment created this unnecessary controversy.

Re Atlantic piece on David Sirota 'If @IsaacDovere had contacted us before publication we could have corrected the reporting error in advance. Last piece by david Sirota for us, end of December. First discussion with Sanders was in mid January

It wouldn't have taken much to simply disclose his speechwriting and advising at the point it commenced. It's a minimal standard of transparency that would (rightly) be expected for others

Not clear he wrote anything after his speechwriting started.

I care about minimum standards of transparency in media, regardless if it's in relation to candidate with whom I have broad affinity.

If there's payment, yes. But absent payment, I think actual transparency in media would be dropping the whole pretense of neutrality thing.

I think publicly stating, "I am now assisting a presidential candidate with speechwriting tasks" is really not too much to ask.

I’m agnostic on this for the moment, but did Sirota only come out with the news to get ahead of this story? I wonder...

Disclosure is warranted if there's a conflict of interest. Which in Sirota's case was what? What if Sirota's position is: I have X views about climate change, fossil fuels etc. which I'll supply to a candidate in speech form if it helps generate policy action in support of X?
